Meet Your Hosts, Warren "Butch" and Sharon Isselhardt
After we married in 1992, we began staying in bed and breakfasts each time we went on vacation in the U.S and Europe. We found each inn to be unique in character and in great locations, the breakfasts delicious, and the inn keepers able to give us tips on restaurants and things to do.
We renovated one historic home in Franklin in the 1990s but decided to move to a newer home several years later. After a few years, we found we missed the charm of an older home and began looking again.
We fell in love when we walked into our current home which was a bank owned property and found it was perfect for our dream of opening our own bed and breakfast. After a 16-month renovation full of surprises and challenges, our dream became a reality.
History of Our Home
Our Italianate-style home was built in 1875 on Franklin's Main Street. The second owner of the property added a large, open front porch and a balcony surrounded by a decorative wrought-iron railing. It was a single-family home for many years but was converted to a boarding house for wealthy widows, then back to a single-family home, then to apartments. At the time of our purchase in May 2011, it was a single-family home again.
The home features an ornate wall molding around the ceiling on both levels and beadwork on the beautiful open staircase. We have kept the structural integrity of the home and have filled it with many unique pieces including antiques, and new and vintage items.
